Even though Chentix has no known drug interactions, it is
recommended to notify your doctor of any other prescriptions
you are taking, especially insulin, asthma medicine, or
blood thinners as there may be a change in how effective
these medications work after stopping smoking. Also notify
your doctor is you take nonprescription medication such as
vitamins and herbal supplements. Because Chantix has not
been studied in children under eighteen years of age and the
safety and effectiveness has not been established, it is not
recommended for children under eighteen years of age.
Chantix should not be
taken if patient is allergic to any of the ingredients
(varenicline as tartarate, microcrystalline cellulose,
anhydrous dibasic calcium phosphate, croscarmellose sodium,
colloidal silicon dioxide, or magnesium).
Your doctor should be
notified if you have kidney problems or are on dialysis as
renal impairment can occur in rare cases. A lower dose may
be prescribed if there are serious kidney problems. No
dosage adjustment is necessary for patients with mid to
moderate renal problems. Notify your doctor if you are
pregnant or plan to become pregnant as
Chentix has not been
studied in pregnant women. The potential effects on fetuses
and labor and delivery are unknown.
Although Chentix was not studied on women who were
breastfeeding, notify your doctor if your are breastfeeding
as Chantix may be passed into breast milk If you are
breastfeeding and are prescribed Chantix, other methods of
breastfeeding can be used.
Healthy geriatric patients did not show any different
outcomes than young patients.
